Why I Do This

I have always been interested in healing.  My first exposure was as a kid watching my grandmother work her miracles using her folk remedies.  With her backyard herbs she made liniments, poultices, ointments, teas--she had a cure for everything.  I once asked her how she learned all these remedies.  She said that her grandmother was the curandera, the medicine woman, and people would come from all over to see her.

I wanted to go into medicine, but instead I decided to go a more natural route where I can make a difference.  So I'm continuing the "family business," except I'm the one with the formal schooling and the fancy degrees.  I can only hope to make my great-great grandmother proud.
